Safety Guidelines for data recovery

  • Always sign on the Printed circuit board and note down PCB number before giving your hard drive to any one
  • Mark the front side with your signature
  • See that your label side is not tampered where small screws exist for opening the hard disk, See for missing screws, damaged components
  • See that your hard disk is in the same condition as given
  • Do not allow the company to apply any markers, job number or permanent stickers
  • Always take an undertaking that PCB is not changed or Rom not changed and hard disk not tampered or opened
  • Never connect your hard disk to a computer after receiving it from other companies if they report Head issues. Report us any new faults if observed when hard drive is given to other company which failed to recover your data. A printed or hand written report is necessary from you for details of processes done, or opening, or tampered firmware. Please ensure that a back up of firmware has been taken by the previous company recovering data.
  • See for missing screws, nuts or cracks in PCB on return back
  • The label on the front must be photographed by you through a mobile
  • Always ask for chalan of submission. Note down your case number and refer to it when you call us. We will support you if you have the chalan number.
  • Always ask for a written report about the complaint the hard disk has.
  • If a company asks for analysis charges, always ask for a report of analysis. It should be a scientific report on health , bad sectors, firmware faults, head faults, platter stuck, PCB burnt, components missing and so on
  • Always read the agreement on the web page or written form

Click Of Death Hoax

Note that, clicking hard drives never directly implies that the heads are gone/or PCB CHANGED/ROM DAMAGED. Heads can be tested in non invasive way and hence there is no need to physically open the HDD to check condition of the head. There are also cases where in the case of multi-head drive if a few heads fail, data can be salvaged from just the working heads without a hard drive head transplant for hard disk data recovery. Data loss is definite in drives where head replacement or head block/cut function is done.
